What you’re seeing: the Universal Pollen Index (UPI) runs 0–5 (None to Very High) for each of three plant families — grass, tree, and weed — modeled from Google’s pollen forecast rather than a physical counting station (there is no dense network of pollen counters the way there is for weather or air quality, so a station-based map would not be honest about coverage). “In season” means that plant family is actively releasing pollen here right now, independent of today’s specific level.
